Unlike existing ultrasound sensors, Toposens is the first one to build a sensor that delivers real 3D information from a single ultrasound sensor system. The sensor provides you with 3D
position information of your surrounding instead of simple distance measurement.

Basically, the 3D ultrasound sensor imitates the brain of a bat. An ultrasound signal is sent out and our algorithms turn the reflections, that we get back from objects and people, into 3D

+What do I need a 3D ultrasound sensor for?
Our ultrasound sensor can be used for applications that require 3D position information of surroundings, people and objects. It can be used as a position sensor and also as an intelligent
motion sensor (it also sees still objects).
Examples include using the 3D sensor for consumer electronics (smartphone, TV), automotive, autonomous robots or people tracking.

+What are the limitations of the 3D ultrasound sensor?
It‘s not an optical system like a 3D camera or 3D laser – we don‘t see details or colors, we don‘t do ‚3D scanning‘ e.g. for reconstruction purposes of objects or rooms.
Due to the use of ultrasound we are dependent on the speed of sound, which limits our framerate and our range.
+Can the sensor identify faces? Does it record conversations?
Ultrasound ‚sees‘ point clouds, not pixels. We do not identify people or structures. We do not record hearable sounds, we focus on a very narrow range in the ultrasound spectrum. We do not
send any data to servers except you ask us to do so.
